The Pierce County Historical Association (PCHA) is an all volunteer, nonprofit organization begun in 1941. We are affiliated with the Wisconsin Historical Society and belong to the Wisconsin Council for Local History. We strive to preserve Pierce County’s heritage by promoting the study, appreciation, and interpretation of the county’s history and related local and regional histories.
The PCHA….
- Collects and preserves archival materials
- Sponsors and supports various programs and events of historical interest
- Educates the public about Pierce County history
- Creates rotating displays highlighting aspects of our local history
We operate two history centers, one in Prescott ran by the Prescott Area Historical Society and one in Bay City that covers the entire county and is the home office of the Pierce County Historical Association. We have published ten volumes of Pierce County Heritage books, and have reproduced three historic plat maps and various other materials of historic interest to the area.
Our board of four elected officers and five directors meets the third Tuesday of each month via Zoom at 6 pm, unless otherwise noted on the calendar . We hold our annual meeting two Sundays before Easter at 2pm. Our Office Committee meets quarterly on the second Tuesday of March, June, September, and December at 1pm. Date changes will be publicized on this website calendar, and our Facebook page. All meetings are open to the public.
PCHA has affiliated chapters and groups throughout the county dedicated to preserving the history of specific communities, townships, villages, and cities.
